back to the future

spent the weekend visiting the copan ruins, an old mayan megalopolis near the guatemalan border, just phenomenal. the ruins are amazing, esp as you can wander around at will and actually touch many heiroglyphs and statues made 1,000 odd years ago. personally i am still a bit dubious on how people know what they say they know abt them mayans but to think about how their world was put together and then reflecting that upon our current one is quite enough to take the head for a spin. read today the intro to confessions of an economic hit man and hopefully will read the rest soon. looks to be fabulously subversive and disturbing to the mental status quo. check it.
